What is our purpose…?

What is our purpose… Wow, that’s a tricky question to uncover, but I love a challenge.

Does anyone know what WALL-E’s was from the Disney movie? It’s a great movie (answer at the end of this post).

Anyway… What a cool way to finish off the working year with a virtual workshop for a social mobility charity around purpose and mission.

Yip, I prefer the workshops to be in person, but after trying to shift the proper flu (not man flu) for the last 11 days, we all agreed to keep any last-minute festive bugs to ourselves.

It’s a different vibe with a virtual workshop, as there’s no visible energy or body language.

You have to:

  • Ensure you keep it engaging with short bursts of different exercises.
  • Make it fun, which is easy with my sense of humour (E).
  • Interactive by using tools like Miro to allow everyone to collaborate.
  • Use tricks like diverge/converge. Split people into breakout rooms and groups, bringing everyone back together to share ideas.
  • Stick to your time slots. I love to blether (talk lots), but keeping the conversation moving is crucial.

So yeah, we managed to work through lots of celebration statements full of varying ideas for the charity that will lead to all sorts of cool things.

It was essential we had different partners, trustees and team members all sharing aspirational but achievable ideas.

And that’s it for 2023.

It’s been a year of self-development and self-discovery while understanding the importance of one’s own mental health.

In a world full of wanting results, results and more results, we take for granted the small things in life like our family, reading a quiet book or catching up with friends.

Things I’m going to do over the festive period include trying to train our puppy Milo to stop biting us all… I can dream.

Thank you to everyone I have the pleasure of supporting and connecting with and for the kindness during a tough time personally this year.

I hope you all have a wonderful break, and I’lI see you Next Year.

Oh yeah, WALL-E, apparently, the robot had a purpose: to clean up the planet, one trash cube at a time. However, after 700 years, he’s developed one little glitch – a personality… very cool.
